Bushleaguebaseball.com and Baptist Cooperation
They are formed primarily for competition in the monthly Matrix games and general camaraderie. Each month, the wins and losses are totalled to see which meta-team wins the monthly Matrix competition between the meta-teams. It is mainly for bragging rights and fun.
Now, I am a member of one of these meta-teams. I have met some interesting people from different places, backgrounds, and cultures. We have different interests, hobbies, work, and family dynamics. We have different political and spiritual beliefs. We have no one person who tells the other meta-team members who to play, when to play, or how to play. Do you see the similarities to the Baptists yet?
We as Southern Baptists have taken great stock in our beliefs concering individual responsibility and local church automony while cooperating together to carry out the Great Commission. Just as my meta-team wins monthly Matrix titles on a regular basis because we work together in spite of our differences, we have a framework of beliefs that hold us together. We as a Convention must work together using the BFM 2000 as the framework. Bill Curtis has stated it well in his open letter, in SBC Life (the article is named: Working Together for the Sake of the Gospel), and on SBC Outpost.
